Where to eat in NYC | Perrine

The Rotunda at The Pierre NYC

The Rotunda at The Pierre NYC

While at fashion week I took a break from all the madness for dinner at one of New York’s classics, Perrine. It’s a beautiful restaurant tucked inside of The Pierre Hotel bordering Central Park. The hotel and restaurant have a lot of history, dating all the way back to the 30s. Upon entrance, you’re welcomed into The Rotunda, a grand foyer, painted from floor to ceiling in murals of actors and actresses that used to frequent the restaurant. Many weddings are held in this room and easy to understand why. The Rotunda makes you feel like you’re somewhere in Italy! In the main restaurant room, the vibe is very 40s meets modern chic, rich lacquered wood, striped booths and palms making up the decor. And then there’s the food…

We were treated to a lovely 4 course dinner that started off with two different kinds of flat breads and tuna tartar. What I particularly loved about the flatbreads are that they were made of naan bread which added a subtle mediterranean twist. Our main courses were black seabass (I’d definitely recommend trying this) and the filet mignon, which was standard, but prepared just right. Dessert was a bowl of Blanc Manger topped with berries and almonds which was incredibly refreshing, especially on a hot summer day.

If you’re in Midtown, a must try!

MAINE CRAB IMPERIAL FLATBREAD with housemade naan, fennel, jalapeños, herbs, Gruyère

BEEF CARPACCIO FLATBREAD with herb mayo, arugula, crispy capers, lemon and parmesan

TUNA TARTARE with haricot verts, cucumber, basil, olives, Dijon dressing

Blanc Manger with Almond milk, plums, strawberry, watermelon sorbet
