Home SWEET Home!!!! Can’t explain how good it feels to finally be in our new home! It’s always been a dream of mine to buy a house but until last year, it just seemed like such an intangible thing, so far away. It wasn’t until Gabriel and I found out we were expecting that we made it our priority and decided we would just make it happen by any means possible. We started working over time, saved every dime, stopped going out to eat all the time, buying expensive bags, and blowing money on anything that wasn’t absolutely vital. We hunted for a home that felt right, went to open houses all day long on Saturday and Sunday every weekend, and when we walked into this one, although it was still so raw and in the process of being built, we knew it was the one!
We moved in last month (HUGE thanks to hireahelper.com for making our move easy!!). We still have so much work to do and we wanted to invite you in and continue to share the process as we make this house the home we’ll be raising our family in! Hope you enjoy and thank you for being such a supportive part of this journey for us! It’s been fun bringing you along and going through it all together xoOur first photo in front of the new house! The trim still hadn’t been added to the front windows and Alessa was only a few weeks old here! This was about 2 months before we actually moved in!
A peek into our new living room! We brought the furniture from our apartment which actually ended up working perfectly in here! We still need to finish off the marble trim on the fireplace and add drapes on the windows! Here’s a nice view of the living room, dining room, and a bit of the kitchen. One of my favorite things about this house is the flow. Love how open the floorpan is, yet each room is still it’s own room. Perfect for lots of family gatherings!
G and I had so much fun visiting slab yards to find the perfect stone for our kitchen! We really wanted marble but found out that it’s actually not practical or durable in the kitchen because it actually chips quite easily, so we were able to find a quartzite that has that marble look we love, but will wear much better over the years!
My cutie <3
This is our family, where we watch movies together and just hang. Still need to get a big comfy rug and drapes in here as well. Love that it’s open to the kitchen so whoever is cooking can still be a part of the family time!
For our dining room I knew I wanted a big wooden table, large enough to seat 8 for family dinners! In the past, we’ve had glass dining room tables which are beautiful, they just aren’t as comfy or practical for everyday living. So we found this table at Restoration Hardware which I think is the perfect balance of practical for daily life, yet still has a modern, chic look to it that flows with the rest of the house. Completed the dining room with tall, white linen chairs, which may seem impractical for kids, but the covers can be removed, and bleached easily.
So grateful we’re finally in our dream home. Especially since we work from home, it’s so important to us to be in a place that gives us peace of mind, lots of natural light and positive energy to be able to be productive, and balance work and family life. I pray that this house will bring our family closer and closer together and look forward to lots of new memories here!
Next time I’ll show you the bedrooms and upstairs! As always, thanks for stopping by! Xxo
