Erykah Badu – But You Caint Use My Phone | Music Review

Erykah Badu - But You Caint Use My Phone
As many of you know, over the past few months I’ve been working and traveling like a mad woman and have barely had time to sleep let alone listen to new music unfortunately. This weekend I’ve finally got some down time and listened to a mixtape that I’ve been wanting to hear from one of my queens, Erykah Badu! If you are like me then you’re a product of the 90’s. During that time, some of the most influential artists were reigning the charts.. The music scene was so much more eclectic… we had everyone from TLC and Usher, to Tupac and Biggie, Britney Spears and N’Sync, and Outkast and my girl, Erykah Badu. After listening to her current project, I...

Ode to Prince

PRINCE
2016 has been a very interesting year so far in the world of hollywood. Only four months in and we have lost David Bowie, Alan Rickman and now the iconic, Prince. Of all of these tragic deaths, I would have to say that the one that has hurt the most is Prince. At the age of only 57years old, he left us all too soon, and while the world speculates all the reasons why and tries to make sense of this, I just wanted to take a moment to honor the life he lived, made great, and the reasons why I’m personally grateful to his excellence. As you all know, music makes up a large part of who I am...

Music Review | Beyonce – Lemonade

Beyonce - Lemonade - Album Review + Cover Artwork
After a long anticipated album release, the Queen has finally dropped her new album, Lemonade. As we all know by now, the hype surrounding Lemonade is outrageous. Beyonce seemed to make this her most powerful and personal album yet. Beyonce has long been one of my biggest inspirations, she really is the QUEEN! But being one of the world’s most famous role models and respected artists, the content of this album was VERY surprising to all of us. A majority of the tracks are about the betrayal and infidelity of her husband, Jay Z. Listening to the album from beginning to end is overpowering, you can feel the pain and rage in her voice, but it’s also some of the...

Coachella Review | Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding - Delirium Album Cover
Hey loves! I’m so excited for Coachella this year; the lineup is full of so many amazing artists! There has been a lot of talk regarding the lack of female artists during the previous years. This Coachella season will finally feature more female artists and lean more towards pop music. One of my favorite female artists, Ellie Goulding will be headlining the festival. The bombshell is quickly becoming a pop sensation with her catchy beats and signature hits. I love the idea of bringing a pop artist like Ellie Goulding to pump up the crowd of an indie music-oriented festival. Her distinct indie vocal style mixed with her EDM background makes her a perfect performer for the festival. The pop...

Music Review | Gwen Stefani – This Is What The Truth Feels Like

Music Review: Gwen Stefani - This Is What The Truth Feels Like
Hope you’re off to a great week my loves! I’m excited to announce I’m starting a new section of MWT to share all that I’m loving in music at the moment. I thought it appropriate to launch with the QUEEN! If anyone embodies strong, sexy, innovative female, it’s Gwen Stefani. Her first album in 10 years, “This Is What The Truth Feels Like” is refreshing and reminiscent of the old Gwen from the 90s. The first few singles she unveiled before her album release “Used To Love You,” and “Misery” came soon after her divorce from Gavin Rossdale and were were like pages from her diary, full of raw emotion from a seemingly painful breakup. The other half of the album...
