1. Glitter Lips
Pat McGrath, the Make-Up Queen caused all the hype this past runway season with the release of her incredible glitter lip formula. The statement lip has become a huge runway phenomenon this season. Celebrities and models such as Naomi Campbell, Christy Teigen, and Bella Hadid have all been seen wearing the glitter lips in shades of dark red, bronze and nude. Pat McGrath’s five-piece lipkit retails for $150 at Sephora, but is unfortunately sold out at the moment. Luckily, other cosmetics brands have started embracing the glitter lip trend. I put together a list of alternative options all under $30 for you guys below! I wasn’t able to get my hands on the highly coveted lip kit myself, but one of my favorite alternatives is Bite Beauty’s gold crème lip-gloss! It’s perfect for a beautiful gold-foiled lip look and photographs amazing!! For those of you on a budget, the secret to how Pat McGrath does this look is by taking a thick gloss and mixing it with a fine metallic powder, then pushing the loose glitter into the lips.
2. Oxblood Lips
Oxblood lips have been all over the runways for Fall. Whether its dark plum, red, or midnight blue, vampy lips have been seen all over the recent Fashion Weeks. In New York, Marc Jacobs focused his runway looks on gothic glamour, meanwhile Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma show was all about the matte, jet-black look. So leave your summer pinks and nudes behind and embrace some vampires this season, just in time for Halloween! Some may think its hard to pull off a deep lip, but I think dark bold lips look good on every skin-tone! Just make sure you keep the rest of your face make-up very minimal and natural. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite lip shades, both high-end and affordable for this season! One of my favorite formula’s for a dark lip is Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Liquorice and Rouge Berry-this pigment lasts for hours and the shades are incredibly gorgeous! A similar alternative is Maybelline’s Blackest Berry in bold. This color compliments the skin so well and is one of my favorite matte formulas because it doesn’t dry out my lips!
3. Peachy Lids
One of the most popular colors we’ve been seeing this season? Peach! Models on the runways at NYFW were embracing their peach-washed lids and nude lips. I love wearing warm peachy tones in the fall because it reminds me of summer and tends to warm up my complexion without using too much bronzer! If you want an intense peach look, make sure to use a good eye primer and cream shadow formula that stays put during the day. If you don’t want to go all out with the peachy lids, try dusting a nude hue all over your lids and putting a light peach into your crease for a soft peach vibe. I’ve put together a list of soft and pretty peachy shades for your lids and feel free to use any nude shades you have lying around to pair with this look.
4. Glitter Eyes
Glitter eyes was a huge trend last Spring, but quickly made it’s way into the Fall season. Models were seen strutting the runways with rich glitter dusted all over their lids and some were even seen wearing it in a line across their upper lids. Pat McGrath has been causing all the hype over the glitter lately. At Tommy Hilfiger, she did a smoky eye on the models using gold glitter as a finishing touch. Mara Hoffman and Zac Posen brought the glitter make-up trend to life by experimenting with gold and silver sparkles and rhinestones on their models. If you guys are nervous about doing a full-on glitter shadow, then try a light sparkle on the inner corners of your eyes or putting a sparkle shadow in the centre of your lids.
5. Smudged Liner
Dark smudged liner has been a huge trend this Fall. Models on the runways of Fashion Weeks were showcasing a lived-in and grungy style using smudged dark liner on their upper and lower waterlines. If you don’t wear heavy eye-makeup during the day, this look is great for a night out. I love putting a bit of gold shimmer in the centre of my eyelids and smudging the black liner outwards with a small flat brush. I like to keep the rest of my face natural, with a nude gloss and bit of bronzer. If you want to achieve this look, start by lining your waterline with a creamy black liner, then put a bit of nude or bronzed shadow into your crease. After you finish lining your upper lid, use a smaller brush to smudge some of the liner upwards or use a black shadow.
6. Metallic Foil Eyeshadow
Metallics are a huge trend for Fall, whether it’s a soft shimmer shadow or dash across the lid. Metallic make-up is making a huge comeback this year. Models were embracing the trend on the runways during NYFW, at Monique Lhuillier and Francesca Liberatore. Metallic Foil Eyeshadows are trending this season, with rich pigments and bronze hues giving off that old Hollywood vibe. I put together a list of high-end and affordable shadows as well as soft shimmers for those of you who want to ease into the trend. For those of you who like a creamy shimmer finish on your lids, I recently fell in love with Laura Mercier’s Caviar Sticks! They are perfect to achieve that natural metallic shadow and best of all, they stay put all day long! I usually find that Metallic goes well with every skintone, but if you’re not ready to coat your entire lid with this intense pigment, try using a silver shimmer on the inner corner of your eyes to accentuate them.
7. Glowy Pink Cheeks
Shimmery lids, rosy cheeks and warm dewy skin has been seen all over the runways this Fall. At Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors, models were showcasing the no make-up look with girly flushed cheeks and dewy skin. When I’m running errands or don’t have time to do full glam, I love getting that no make-up look by wearing a tinted moisturizer, rosy blush, illuminator and soft touch of shadow on the eyes. To achieve this look, you can use a light cream shadow on your lids, some mascara, a cream highlight to accentuate the high points of your face and lastly a subtle rose gloss for your lips. A trick to get that flush from within is to also combine your best beauty oil with a strong highlighter. I’ve put together a list of blushes and illuminators below that will give you the perfect flushed look and glow from within!
